MARILYN S. MILLER, Ph.D., C.Psych


Dr. Marilyn Miller
practices in the area of clinical and industrial-organizational psychology.  She has a strong background in vocational and psychological assessment, career counseling, job candidate selection, and organization survey and training projects.  Dr. Miller consults to individuals and organizations in Canada and the U.S.

Dr. Miller is a registered psychologist in private practice in Toronto, Ontario, with 20 years' experience in assessment, counseling, and organization training programs.  In addition to working with organizations, she works with individuals to assist them with their careers such as optimal job fit, professional development, executive coaching, and stress related issues, whether from personal, work-based sources, or traumatic events. 

In the personal sphere, Dr. Miller provides individual, marital/couples, and family counseling, as well as assist with anger and stress management, in a person-centered collaborative way.  The emphasis is on assisting clients to develop increased understanding of self and others and to acquire new solutions and skills as needed, particularly in the areas of communication and problem-solving.

She has developed and presented workshops and seminars dealing with psychological issues in the workplace such as understanding organization culture and adapting to change, coping with difficult people, balance in work and personal life, life stage changes, and stress management topics.  In addition, she has been interviewed on radio, television, and contributed to various business and news articles on these topics as well.  She also taught psychology courses at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, in the continuing education division.

Dr. Miller
received her master’s and doctoral degrees at York University.  Her masters and doctoral research investigated social and developmental factors that influence intellectual development.  She is a member of the Ontario Psychological Association and is listed with Canadian Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology.  Active in association work, she has served as President for the Section on Industrial-Organizational Psychology of the Ontario Psychological Association and is listed in Who’s Who of Canadian Women (1988).  She recently served as an advisor on the doctoral dissertation committee of a doctoral candidate in the Organization and Management program at Capella University, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
